Holiday Travels Part 1: Singapore

I just returned from traveling off and on for about 3 weeks and boy is it good to settle back in at home. To brief you: As part of our contract, we are allowed up to 14 days of travel out of the country and I chose December to be my travel time abroad. I met up with some other ETA friends in Singapore for a few days before heading on to Phuket and Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Singapore will be the first of many blog posts detailing my travels in December! Singapore is an incredibly clean, peaceful, and kind city. It was definitely a culture shock to see sparkling clean streets free from trash and miscellaneous objects. It is an extremely wealthy city, full of business men and women. Everywhere. The metro system was the nicest metro I have ever been on--I would eat off the floors--they are that clean.

One wonderful thing about Singapore--Christmas was everywhere there. There were beautiful Christmas lights and trees and decorations everywhere and it was exactly what I needed to get a little holiday cheer fix. We even found candy canes being sold in the metro snack store! We also attended a performance of the Nutcracker Ballet, which was simply wonderful.

View from the plane! TONS of tankers.

Exploring Chinatown

Singapore and all things illegal:

Temple time

All things gold and glamorous in another temple

Night market shops

A taste of Little India--the food was incredible.

Exploring the Botanical Gardens--the green in Singapore did wonders for my soul. City-life can be tough without beautiful flowers and sprawling green space.

There were trees from all over the world.. here is the good ole USA!

Orchid Garden

Taking a ride on the Singapore Flyer--it's a giant ferris wheel that looks like the London Eye.
